JW-JAPFGTER.JPG 163562 bytes A wartime-era photo of a crashed Japanese fighter, taken by Johnny Watts' grandfather. My guess is that this is a Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa ("Oscar") and not a Ki-84 Hayate "Frank" because of the location of the aerial (antenna), and the slight forward bulge on the inner wing roots. Probably the ultimate verifying factor to this would be the location of the canopy (it was somewhat farther forward on the Oscar). If somebody concurs or disagrees, please let me know.
